Concert Review: Queens of the Stone Age & Brody Dolle

QOTSA.TicketQueens of the Stone Age and Brody Dalle took to the stage at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa on Saturday, July 4th and both bands absolutely rocked. The packed house was treated to two different acts, bringing two different energies to the stage. Brody, with her raw punk attitude, had fans headbanging and moshing around while QUOTSA achieved similar effects with a fun, crisp performance showcasing front man Josh Homme’s veteran stage presence.

The night opened with Brody Dalle, former lead singer of The Distillers, who crashed into her set with “Rat Race”. The sharp guitars and pounding drums merged perfectly with Dalle’s raspy voice. The biggest cheers came from the crowd when Dalle played Distillers’ throwbacks such as “Coral Fang” and “The Blackest Years”. Dalle remained stationary for most of her performance, and lacked the same level of charisma Homme would display later in the night. Saying that, Dalle did entertain with her bare bones, no nonsense, punk rock performance.
